Tips to putting extra mileage on your home:
1. If you have doors in your home that stick or squeak you need to check the hinges to see if they're loose. Another way to improve a stuck door is to take hinge pin out and bend the knuckles of the door with pliers.
2. If you see your home has old weather stripping this is how you can tell is you see cracks or torn weather stripping. To remove it use an adhesive solvent and then just replace it with new stripping.
3. If you want to protect or repair your home from termites install termite flashing. Termite flashing is a barrier to keep termites from penetrating your home through the foundation of your home.
4. Check your water heater for things that look unusual. Check your cathodic anode, replace it if necessary also the elements, burners, tank and flue. If you know nothing about a water heater please call a professional.
5. Check your tub and the overflow of your tub.
6. To prevent a fire please check your fireplace and chimney for built up soot, ash, and smoke.
7. If you have any cracks, gouges or nail pops in your walls fill them in.
8. If you see your ceilings are sagging, droopy, or falling down please fix them.
9. If you see your walls look damaged in anyway scrub, clean, and touch up your wall paint.
10. Your appliances need to be maintained as well so check all your lights to make sure they're screwed in properly and all work.
11. Your refrigerator must be maintained as well. Check your door hinges, the gaskets, and vacuum the coils.
12. If there are cracks in your grout between your tile seal and protect it.
13. Always update your first aid kits and your emergency kits as well.
14. One of the most important things to remember to do at least once a month check your fire and carbon monoxide alarms clean and check them monthly.
